War drums,

in lock-step with history,

arm and arm

with capitol gains,

beating in time

with the pulse of Empire.

Drowning out the cries

of peaceful people

who did not make oppression

their number one export.

War drums,

seeding the air with fear,

announcing the impending

creep of slavery,

the fertilization of battlefields,

the commodification

of inequality.

War drums are a language

they tell a story

they telegraph a message:

War may be hell (stop)

but it is only handmaiden (stop)

to the Lord God of avarice (stop)
